Make sure that you have followed the pre-setup instructions found here before continuing to create a VPN connection for Outlook.
Create a VPN Connection in Windows 2000 & XP:
- Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
- Double-click on "New Connection Wizard"
- If you see a "Welcome" window, hit "Next"
- On the "Network Connection Type" window, select
"Connect to the network at my workplace" and click
on "Next:

- On the "Network Connection" window, select "Virtual
Private Network connection" and click on "Next":

- On the "Connection Name"
window, type in "Naples-Digital-Services VPN" and click on "Next":

- On the "Public Network" window, select "Do
not dial the initial connection" and
click on "Next". NOTE: You may not be presented
with this window if you do not have any dial-up connections
defined already. Go to the next step if you do not
see this window.

- On the "VPN Server Selection" window,
type in "VPN.Naples-Digital-Services.COM" and
click on "Next".

- On the "Completing the New Connection Wizard" window,
check "Add a shortcut to this connection to my
desktop"
and click on "Finish". NOTE: You
must follow steps 10-15 below, otherwise you will
not be able
to browse the Internet while connected to the VPN.

- Minimize all your open windows (shortcut: press
the "Windows" key and "D" at the same time) to see
your entire desktop. Right click on the icon for
"Naples-Digital-Services VPN" and click
on "Properties".
- Click on the "Networking" Tab. Select
"Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to highlight it and click
on "Properties":
- On the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties"
window, click on "Advanced".
- On the "Advanced TCP/IP Settings" window, under
the "General" tab, uncheck the box for "Use default
gateway on remote network".
- Click on "OK", then "OK" again.
- You are now ready to connect. Go back to your desktop
and double-click on "Naples-Digital-Services VPN". On the "Connect
to Naples-Digital-Services VPN" window, it will ask for:
User name: This is the same username as in your original
setup e-mail - look under the "To Setup Microsoft
Outlook for
Exchange" section. This looks like: company.user
Password: your password
Domain: This is also found in your original setup
e-mail - look under the "To Setup
Microsoft Outlook for Exchange" section. Typically,
it is MAIL
