A VPN connection will enable you to connect to the
Naples-Digital-Services Exchange servers if your ISP is blocking port
135. For example, if you use Comcast Broadband, then you must use a VPN to connect.
NOTE: If you are using Windows XP and Outlook 2003, then you do not need to use a VPN. Follow the instructions instead for Setup Outlook 2003 using RPC over HTTP .
Setup for Outlook over VPN access:
- Enable VPN access: login to our online Control Panel, click on "Add/Change/Delete Users", click on "Modify Settings: Advanced" in the far right-hand column for the user, and check the box for "VPN Access Enabled".
- Follow the step-by-step instructions to Create A VPN Connection.
- Launch the VPN Connection and make sure that you are connected - the icon for it should be in the taskbar in the bottom right of Windows.
- Follow the setup instructions for your version of Outlook (2000, 2002, 2003), making sure that you check the box for "Setup for VPN Access" once you run OLSetup.exe during step A1.
Launching Outlook over VPN: Once setup, you must follow this procedure every time you start Outlook:
- Launch the VPN Connection and make sure that you are connected - the icon for it should be in the taskbar in the bottom right of Windows.
- Launch Microsoft Outlook. It is necessary to establish the VPN connection before launching Outlook. Otherwise, Outlook will not be able to connect.
